BROKEN BOW RECORDS

In 1999 Benny Brown founded Broken Bow Records. The music bussiness was in a downward spiral at the time; however, Benny Brown and his team refused to let it break their spirits. Broken Bow Records is an independent record label that concentrates mainly on county music. Most of the artist signed to BBR enter their recording company with an already well known hit or two. BBR is a small independent label with a full staff of professionals (many of them having prior major label experience). (1)

Early in Broken Bow Records’ career they signed artist such as Joe Diffie, Lila McCann, Randy Owen and Craig Morgan. Craig Morgan was the first artist to bring BBR to the top. Craig Morgan signed with BBR in 2002 and released his first album I Love it.  By 2004, BBR had released four Top 40 Hits from this album selling 300,000 copies. This was considered a lankmark for independent record labels breaking through with high chart ranking artist. (2)

BBR continued to shape Craig Morgan into top selling artist, and in 2005 Morgan released his second album for BBR, My Kinda Livin’. Craig Morgan and Broken Bow Records recieved their first Number One hit with the single, That’s What I Love About Sunday. This single was also the first independently-distributed single to spend numerous weeks at Number One on the charts since 1977. BBR released several more top of the chart hits by Morgan.

In Janurary 2004, Broken Bow Records signed a struggling artist, Jason Aldean. (4) BBR invested just as much time into Aldean as they had Morgan and it paid off  drastically.  By 2005, BBR was releasing hit singles by Jason Aldean as fast as he could record them and get them out to the masses. He released hits such as Hicktown, Why and Amerillo Sky on his self-debut album with was certified Gold in twelve weeks and shortly after certified Platinum. BBR released Aldean’s second album, Wide Open, that recieved Gold and Platinum certification with singles such as She’s Country, The Truth and Big Green Tractor. Big Green Tractor was also the first number one ringtone in all genre’s, and this was a first for any country artist. BBR was breaking through with hit singles and new media as well. (3)

Broken Bow Records has grown into the successful independent label that it is today by investing time into each artist on their roster and sticking with them. BBR gives their artist the oppertunity to prove themselves with their own style of music and stands behind them with support. Broken Bow Records will continue to grow as an independent label, and continue to sign new artist that will dominate the charts as they have done in the past and as they are continuing to do.
